David is passionate about bicycles and the sport of cycling, and bicycle accidents is an important part of his practice. David draws his passion for representing bicycle injury victims from his own experience as an avid cyclist. He relates on a personal level to the adversities facing urban cyclists on the streets, roads and trails of the Greater Seattle Area.
There has been 1,294 bicyclist and passenger crashes in 2019, including 9 fatalities and 114 serious injuries, according to the WADOT. These numbers are staggering and continue to steadily increase, seemingly unaffected by the measures the state and federal governments are implementing to make cycling safer.
Bicycle accidents often involve grave injuries because cyclists have little protection from an impact with a car that weighs a thousand times heavier. Even the impact speed of 25 mph can forcefully eject a cyclist into the air, immediately followed by a hard landing onto the road.
